Thrifting Hideouts in Singapore

While fast fashion trends show no signs of slowing down, thrifting is increasingly becoming a hot favourite. The traditional perspective that good stuff must be new is fading as more people embrace the importance of preserving the sanity of Mother Earth.

Consumers are so used to being fed with new collections from different fashion labels all the time. In contrast, the act of thrifting is so much more exhilarating to some as they get to rummage through stores and pick up rare finds. And at the same time, reducing their environmental footprint.

If you’d like to experience thrifting first hand, here are some places on our sunny island that you can head to.

New2U Thrift Shop

96 Waterloo St, Singapore 187967

Opening Hours: Monday - Friday, 10.30am - 2.30pm

New2U has been around for 19 years, selling donated pre-loved items, where prices start from as low as $1. The shop is managed entirely by volunteers, and all the proceeds go towards Star Shelter and various SCWO initiatives. If you’re a student, you’ll be happy to know you can head there on Tuesdays to enjoy a special promotion of 50% off! If you’d like to donate your clothes to New2U, you can find more details on their page here.

The Salvation Army Praisehaven Mega Family Store

500 Upper Bukit Timah Road Singapore 678106

Opening Hours: Monday - Thursday, 10am - 6pm, Friday - Saturday, 10am - 9pm

Items here are usually in better condition than most thrift stores, and trust us when we say the store is really big. While it’s a more organized setting, you will still have to rummage through to find gems. Prices here are also known to be higher than other thrift stores, but you probably find more items from trendy brands these days, such as Love, Bonito.

Wholly Vintage

Eunos Ave 3, #05-03

Opening Hours: Friday - Tuesday, 1pm - 8pm

Vintage lovers rejoice! This quaint little shop, tucked away in a corner of Eunos, carries a whole range of authentic vintage wear. Give yourselves a little more time here because you’ll definitely need that extra time to deliberate what you’ll want to bag home. Expect prices above $35 here, due to the quality of the vintage wear you’re thrifting. They also have a $20 and below clearance box.

Available in multiple locations around Singapore. Find out more here.

REFASH has taken social media, and the thrifting scene by storm when it launched. Our team really enjoyed watching this thrifting video by Rachel and Tammy - and thought you’d like to see bits of what you can expect before starting your thrifting adventure.
