Places To Shop - With A $15 Budget!
Updated: Nov 2, 2019
We all love ourselves a good outfit, and even better when we can boast that it's put together even with a tight budget! Having to Google for promocodes, trying our best to stack them before carting out, noting down the dates of sales in our diaries - girls just wanna be girls and have fun with their wardrobe, aye?
Our team went on a bargain hunt for affordable outfits - and these places topped our list. We believe in spending within our means, and we love the thrill of scoring an awesome outfit piece at a steal!
Outlet malls carry off season items or sell discontinued items from retail shops. While rare in Singapore, outlet malls do exist on our sunny island! Just a note though, we’ve seen a fair bit of samples and defective items, but they are usually tagged to inform buyers. So do keep a lookout before buying! Other than that, outlet malls are great because you can expect prices to be slashed at up to 70% off.
Compared to the other outlet malls, this mall may pale in comparison because it is smaller. However, its compact size means you’ll be able to shop efficiently and complete your shopping in no time. There's a decent range of fashion shops available at Anchorpoint, so you'll definitely find something you like! Be sure to visit when they organise their atrium sales, you're going to score great deals!
Our favourite brands there: Charles and Keith, Pedro, Cotton On
Address: 370, Alexandra Road, 159953
The megamall is the largest outlet mall in Singapore. There are close to 100 outlet stores, where you can find outfits to match your dressy heels to athleisure wear for your next gym session, there are options for every occasion. Here's something most of us won't know, when you click into the 'Deal' section on IMM's website, you'll see that they offer e-vouchers and have promotional items for CapitaLand members - that's how you can score great deals!
Our favourite brands there: Adidas, Outlet by Club21, UnderArmour, Furla and Kate Spade
Address: 2 Jurong East Street 21, Singapore 609601
Changi City Point
The newest addition of outlet malls in Singapore, we love Changi City Point for its great range of sporting wear! It boasts many factory outlet stores of our favourite sports brands (think Fila, Nike, Adidas, and more) and you can find all you need for any sport you're going to play. This is the perfect sport (pun-intended) to find your dream athleisure outfit.
Our favourite brands are: Aldo, G2000, Timberland, Universal Traveller
Address: 5 Changi Business Park Central 1, Singapore 486038
If you haven't already downloaded Shopee in your phone, you should. Their prices are incredibly competitive and even with shipping factored in, items are still affordable. Do note that certain items are shipped from vendors overseas, and you may have to wait for a week up, or even up to a month depending on the shipping process.
Similar to Taobao, we recommend you look through the reviews of the buyers and the pictures contributed in the comments section to gauge if the item is a must-buy or likely to be a miss.
This app started from a humble marketplace selling pre-loved items, to a platform where you can even purchase your new home or car. We’ve been consistent users of the app, and we love how easy it is to clear our wardrobe, or hunt down items we love for a better price. You can also adjust the price filter according to your budget which shortens the time taken!
Don't make it a Carouhell though, there's enough of terrible users on the app.
New2u Thrift Store
Thrifting is the new in-thing, largely due to increasing awareness among consumers on sustainability. Other than practicing sustainability, the proceeds from New2u go to The Star Shelter, a refuge shelter for women and children who are survivors of domestic violence.
There’s a changing room available and most clothes are hung in racks for easy browsing. We’ve bagged pretty good deals here, with familiar brands like Uniqlo or Zara. Do expect to do get your hands dirty because you'll need to sieve for good finds. Items are priced from $2 onwards.
Note: Only cash accepted. Every Tuesday, they have a 50% promotion for students!
Address: 96 Waterloo St, Singapore 187967
All the best, bargain-hunters, and may the good-deals-force be with you!
